World Cup Winner

Busan, the second-largest city in South Korea, was the venue of the World Cup Football Finals and the Asian Games in 2002.

The stadium built for these events can accommodate up to 55,500 spectators with a 55,000sq/m membrane roof providing protection from the sun, wind and rain. The stadium forms a landmark in the ring of developments around the city. The 96 individual membrane elements of the roof, each with an area of 570sq/m, are tensioned by the use of a slender cable network. The translucent membrane enables appropriate lighting conditions within the stadium and enhances acoustics to ensure a relaxed atmosphere during a wide range of events.

Another application where Hightex’s position as a world leader in creating tensile structures and fabric architecture in tensioned membranes such as PTFE, PVC, and ETFE is realised.
