Fashion Statement
The architects of the Burberry fashion headquarters chose transparent triple layer ETFE foil cushions as the perfect complement to the cutting edge office design during the remodelling of this art deco building.
Two impressive eight storey atria, filled with natural light, are both capped by inverted pneumatic cushion roofs. The request for a visually floating tensile structure was achieved by Hightex designing a unique fixing system to the external steel supporting structure. Internally no supporting structure is apparent balancing the clean minimalist lines featured throughout the offices. Small silver dot fritting to the cushions outer layer reduces sunlight glare to the working spaces and reception area below and also controls overall light transmission. The self cleansing property of ETFE foil eliminates the need for an on-going cleaning regime.
Another application where Hightex’s position as a world leader in creating tensile structures and fabric architecture in tensioned membranes such as PTFE, PVC, and ETFE is realised.
