Small Masterpieces Combining Timber and Membrane

The pavilions for the National Flower Exhibition were designed by the renowned German architect Professor Thomas Herzog.

Each different model of the more than 100 pavilions is based on an identical timber framed structure: A square cross sectioned timber frame with 4.5 m x 4.5 m and 3.4 m height covered with a white architectural membrane, giving a covered roof size of 7.2 m x 7.2m with a total height of 4.95m. This flexible design allows for a wide range of uses. The pavilions were spread throughout the exhibition area for uses such as Information Pavilions, Kiosks, Ticket Counters and even as a small cinema.

Another application where Hightex’s position as a world leader in creating tensile structures and fabric architecture in tensioned membranes such as PTFE, PVC, and ETFE is realised.
